King Kale & Co
Albion
WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT THIS CAFE HAS CLOSED, LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER WE VISITED.
Plant-based organic wholefoods fill the menu at King Kale & Co in Albion, where the philosophy is that food is the best medicine.
The vegetarian cafe's large undercover tables add a community vibe to the leafy side street in Albion, making for an ambient space to dine in.
Customers are invited to wander downstairs to check out King Kale & Co.'s super seasonal salads, while upstairs there are a selection of grain-free, gluten-free muffins, chia pots, kale chips, biscuits and slices to choose from.
Fermented foods are a specialty here, including house-brewed kombucha, wholesome sauerkraut and zingy ginger beer. They also brew an excellent cup of Sacred Grounds organic fair trade coffee, alongside cold pressed juices, home made almond milk, and superfood smoothies.
There is a mini permculture system at work here with many herbs and greens being grown and consumed within the cafe. All food waste is lovingly composted right back into the earth to complete the utopian cycle.
Check the website for King Kale & Co. with upcoming real food cooking classes for both adults and children.
