Giselle
Riverstage Brisbane
The Australian Ballet are bringing classic ballet Giselle to the Brisbane Riverstage on Friday night in a spectacular free performance open to the general public, courtesy of Telstra.
Whether a ballet buff or you've never been to a ballet before, this is a unique not-to-be-missed chance to see Australia’s leading ballet company perform one of the world’s best-loved ballets (dating from 1841), for free.
The blockbuster production by Maina Gielgud captures the ethereal beauty and heartbreaking story of tragic peasant girl Giselle in a whirl of white tutus and awe-inspiring classical techniques.
Bring along friends, family, a picnic and rug and stake out a spot at the beautiful riverside setting from 4pm, with the performance commencing at 7pm.
In the lead-up, dancer Brooke Lockett will be hosting a candid and revealing Q&A with the company’s rising stars and in another first, the dancers will go on to take their warm-up class live on stage.
Need to know – A great way to get there without the hassle of parking and Friday night road transport is to take the Citycat to Gardens Point and walk up to Riverstage. Or take the train or bus to South Bank Station and walk across the Goodwill Bridge.
