The Regatta Hotel is this year hosting its inaugural German Festival, and everyone is willkommen (welcome for the non-German speakers) to come along and immerse themselves in all that this culturally-rich European country has to offer.
This 3-day event - which kicks off from 4pm Friday October 13 and finishes late on Sunday October 15 - will see the back of the magnificent landmark hotel totally transformed into an authentic German Beer Hall, with bars serving up the best of German-style beers. Favourite lagers and draught beer on offer, chilled and ready to enjoy, will be the likes of Blue Moon Belgian White, Hoegaarden Belgian Wheat Beer, Dog Bolter German-style Dark Lager, Schofferhofer Hefeweizen and Weihenstephaner Dunkl. Try saying these 10 times after your second stein!
For those not into das bier (the beer), a fine selection of wines and German liqueurs will transport your tastebuds to Europe, giving you a taste for the German way of life, and having you looking for your passport.
Speaking of taste, guests will be taken on a culinary tour of the flavoursome German favourites - pork knuckle, salted pretzels, German weiner schnitzel and the Regatta's very own-inspired German Bratwurst Burger, fittingly served atop what else but the perfect pretzel bun!
Sweet tooth foodies will definitely be in Germanic heaven when they try the chef's delectable Apple Strudel, lovingly smothered in pure cream.
Live musicians, with a mix of popular national German music included in the playlist, are the finishing touches that elevates this event to your social calendar's status of 'best German Festival ever!' So, grab your crew and start practicing your schuhplattler moves!
Nice to know - Lederhosen and dirndl are not compulsory, but hey, when in Germany...!
