Dva
Studio 188
Fans of Eastern European music and quirky musical genius Linsey Pollak will love Dva, an innovative and lively collaboration between Pollak and musician Tunji Beier.
Dva is the Macedonian word for two and fittingly this musical duo go back a long way, having first performed at the ‘Border Crossings Festival’ in Germany in 1996.
Their unique and intense style, based on improvisations and compositions derived from Macedonian and South Indian influences, make for an unforgettable night where audiences are whisked away to far and foreign places.
Linsey is renowned for his extraordinary collection of wind instruments that he has experimented with and fashioned to his own requirements, such as narrow bored clarinets made from bamboo, glass wood and aluminium and hybrid bagpipes based on the Macedonian gaida.
Meanwhile Tunji is percussion king, bringing Jaw harps, temple drums, talking drums and a lizard skin tambourine to the set.
With the duo’s line-up of original compositions that are defined by dazzling improvisation and technical brilliance, cabaret-style seating and a bar providing liquid and snack provisions, this is a night not to be missed.
