Dave Thornton

Brisbane Powerhouse

So What Now? asks comedian Dave Thornton, as he looks at life with a one year-old child in his side-splitting show at Brisbane Powerhouse, March 13 – 18.

Thornton has been a popular stand-up performer on stages all around the country and recently hung up the headphones after four years of breakfast radio. But if he thought he was going to sleep in and take it easy, he soon learnt that living with a one year-old would put an end to those fantasies.

In So What Now?, Thornton will share with Brisbane Comedy Festival audiences some of the things he’s learnt in the past year. These include realising that you should never show photos of your kid to a non-parent because of their complete disinterest, finding out how hard it is to explain the concept of an Uber to a 70 year-old, and realising that you rarely need to leave the 3km radius surrounding your home.

The show is an upside down take on an upside down year after Thornton threw in the security of a regular paying job to go back on the road as a stand-up comedian while he’s got a new mouth to feed. What could possibly go wrong?

The Age called Thornton “a quick and self-deprecating wit” while the Herald Sun claimed that “he’s got that slick stand-up gift of being able to take a spontaneous moment in a show and twist it, turn it, and make it funny.” So what now? You should book tickets before they sell out!
