Damien Power
Brisbane Powerhouse
Multi-award winning comedian, Damien Power, whose show was labelled a “masterpiece” by the Herald Sun, presents Violent Chaos Anyone? at Brisbane Powerhouse, February 27 – March 4.
A three-time nominee for the Barry Award for Best Show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, as well as the winner of the Pinder Prize in 2017 and Director’s Choice Award in 2016 at the same prestigious event, Power’s observations are bound to strike an hilarious chord with Brisbane Comedy Festival audiences.
Power’s determined to figure out what makes humans tick and in Violent Chaos Anyone? he attempts to untangle the chaos of modern love, dating apps, romance and technology – subjects ripe for cutting commentary and biting humour. He thinks that in today’s world, we want it all – “beer without carbs, sugar without calories, burgers without fat, activism without revolution and love without the falling”.
In dissecting these societal trends, the comedian delivers his materials “with the forceful swagger of a bar-room philosopher”, according to Chortle, U.K. He’s obviously doing something right to earn the accolades so far, so make sure you don’t miss out.
*Tue – Thu Preview $24; Fri – Sat $32; Sun $28.
