Australia’s Biggest Duck Race for Cancer Research returns to the Brisbane river at West End on Sunday 14 October and it promises to be a quacker of a family-friendly day out for all ages.
Along with the spectacle of 40,000 giant ducks on the Brisbane river, there’ll be live entertainment on the river stage, kids rides, shows and activities and delicious eats from the Regatta Hotel - all in aid of cancer research.
Whilst the day kicks off at 11am, the 4pm show stopper is the 100m duck race where the massive flotilla of bobbing, yellow ducks literally turn the Brisbane River into a swathe of gold. These ducks are available to buy from $5 per duck up to a whole flock, and there are some absolutely quacktacular prizes for the first beaks over the line, including a car, $10,000 boat or $25000 cash!
Kids will enjoy a quacking good day out with live stage shows Totally Wild, Crocamole and Scope TV, presented by Ollie MacCormack and Elly Awesome from ELEVEN's Toasted TV.
There'll also be a line-up of fun-filled activities including a climbing wall, face-painting, animal farm and air-brush tattoos as well as slushies, popcorn and fairy floss.
Food-wise duck race goers can tuck into Regatta Gourmet Street bites like pizza, tandooro skewers, calamari, sausage rolls and pies and a mouth-watering spit roast. And the Regatta Ducks Nuts Inn will be the place for those aged 18rs + to chill out with some refreshing bar drinks.
And for those brave enough to be part of the competition, why not join in the Giant Duck Race, setting sail on a giant inflatable duck for a 50m race that is guaranteed to have feathers flying.
Thousands are expected to flock to the river’s edge to be a part of the fun and festivities the day has to offer, along with the iconic race that quacks the nation, so flock on down and join them for a very good cause.
Need to know - The event is the PA Research Foundation’s flagship fundraiser for cancer research. To support this initiative, you can purchase a single duck in the race for $5 or a whole flock!
