Playhouse Qpac

Queensland’s Expressions Dance Company (EDC) is presenting its exciting new show, 4Seasons, in conjunction with Hong Kong’s City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC), at Playhouse, QPAC, June 14 – 22.

Celebrating 10 years with EDC, acclaimed Artistic Director Natalie Weir has collaborated with Dominic Wong, Assistant Artistic Director of CCDC, and Helpmann Award-winning choreographer Kristina Chan to bring 4Seasons to life courtesy of 20 dancers from both prestigious dance companies. It’s no doubt going to be another memorable and stirring performance, which EDC fans have come to expect after several successful and award-wining shows.

4Seasons is a major collaboration presented as part of EDC’s five-year Chinese Australian Dance Exchange Project, which involves three high-profile Chinese dance companies working with the Queensland company to develop culturally significant and ambitious new contemporary dance works in Australia and China.

Sydney-based Chan will bring her unique sensibilities to a work for the performance, with Weir saying, “Her choreography explores important themes – the impermanence of the environment and the brittleness of human nature.”

Weir is thrilled to bring this inspiring triple bill to audiences, with moments from celebrated minimalist composer Max Richter (Woolf Works, The Royal Ballet) melded with Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, combined with stunning choreography, dance, and lighting. The Brisbane season will come hot off the heels of the work’s premiere in Hong Kong on June 1.
